If you ever wanted GTA to be more like Skyrim the GTA RPG mod is the one thing that will turn that wish into a reality. The recently released script adds leveling up, multiple dialogue trees, skills and character customization to the offline GTA V experience.

Mod creator LogicSpawn [via VG 24/7] released a new video trailer to showcase what's in the mod and how it works and you can check it out below.

The mod is very extensive. You get to create your own character after choosing a class type and it allows you to modify the way the character looks during the gameplay. It's similar to GTA Online but made for the single-player portion of the gameplay experience.

As showcased in the video, you get access to skills and upgrades as you play the GTA V RPG mod, unlocking new abilities by earning experience points. Some of the skills including getting high, toughening up, having reinforcements join you, some kill called “Reject Nonsense” (I have no idea what it does) and getting hammered. Those are just a few of the skills available and many of them seem completely out there and I have no idea what they do.

The more impressive aspect of the mod is the multiple choice dialogue trees implemented that allow players to interact with NPCs in all new ways. Instead of just dealing with canned responses or cinematic sequences, players can now choose how they interact with certain characters and it determines different outcomes based on those choices. It literally adds a whole new layer of gameplay depth and interactivity to the GTA V experience.

LogicSpawn also added a new quest system with on-screen quest trackers, so you'll know what to do and where to go, as well as an all new RPG-style user interface for changing your character and modifying some of their properties.

The most impressive thing about the mod – aside from the obvious dialogue trees for the NPCs – is the new RNG-based loot and item system. I don't know how he implemented a random number item generator into GTA V but that is truly, truly impressive.

In addition to all this, the experience points you gain while playing are added up based on performing tasks. So outrunning the cops, getting combo kills during shootouts and completing quests all add to your character's total experience count.

Most gamers are quite impressed with the mod so far and it shows a ton of potential. Right now it's all just scripts so you don't have to worry about downloading new textures or models to overhaul the GTA V experience.

You can grab the GTA RPG mod scripts, right now, from over on the GTA5-Mods website. You will need the latest version of ScriptHookV and the Microsoft .NET redistributable.
