Microsoft already surprised a lot of gamers by announcing that it was cutting the price of the Xbox One to 349 dollars (278 Euro) for the holiday period in order to attract more customers to the platform, and it seems that the company is ready to further improve the deal for players by announcing an even better offer for those who are ready to trade older devices.

The official page for the home console on the Microsoft Store states that all those who are have an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3 can go to one of the participating physical locations in order to renounce their older devices and get 100 dollars (79 Euro) in credit.

This means that the official price of the Xbox One becomes 249 dollars (199 Euro), which is a pretty impressive deal considering that the platform has been offered for just one year.

It’s unclear whether there’s a limited number of trades available or if Microsoft is ready to deal with anyone who buys its current-gen platform in the coming two-month period.

The offer is only offered in the United States and it seems that the European market is too fragmented at the moment in order to deliver something similar.
Microsoft cannot go any lower

At the moment Microsoft benefits from the fact that it has a lot of cash reserves and that the Xbox One is already doing better than the 360 did at the same moment during its lifetime.

This means the company is capable of lowering prices almost at will, but it needs to limit the timeframe during which they are available.

The team working on the Xbox One also says that it will continue to deliver monthly firmware updates, although the December one will contain a smaller list of new features.

Sony will probably continue to price the PlayStation 4 at 399 dollars or Euro, depending on the market, although the company might introduce some bundles in order to keep it competitive.

It will be interesting to see whether the different prices will influence the sales totals at the end of the year.

At the moment the PlayStation 4 is over the 13-million mark all over the world, and the device might generate solid sales when it is finally offered in China officially.

The Xbox One meanwhile has managed to ship 2.4 million units to stores during the three-month period which ended on September 30.
