Xbox Boss Says Project Scarlett Will Get First-Party Games Every 3-4 Months
Xbox's next-gen console, currently dubbed Project Scarlett, will apparently feature quite a stacked lineup with first-party exclusives–or at least a consistent lineup. One of the biggest problems that Microsoft has faced this generation stems from a lack of must-have games on its hardware, which other companies have not been in short supply of. Although the company has been making technical strides with the Xbox One X and xCloud.
Admittedly, Microsoft has made some major studio acquisitions (the latest being the addition of Double Fine Games into the Xbox Game Studios fold) to buck the trend of not having enough content in the eyes of consumers. With the perception of Gears 5 acting as a swan song of sorts for the Xbox One, everyone's attention is now placed on Xbox's Project Scarlett and just what titles will arrive on the next-gen platform. Luckily, it sounds as if there will be plenty of games leading up to Scarlett's launch and after.
During an interview with GamesRadar+, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty talked about the company's goals for first-party software going forward. According to Booty, the company is feeling optimistic about its 2020 lineup, with games set to arrive fequently throughout the year. Just how frequently? Well, as the headline of this article indicates, Xbox Game Studios should have a title to release once every three to four months.

"We feel really good heading into 2020. We've got a goal of being able to deliver a game, roughly, every three to four months. We have a little bit of work to do to get there. It'll be lumpy, but we’re closer than we were. And so we feel really good going into 2020 – and the run-up to Project Scarlett – with our content line-up."
There are already a handful of known titles in devleopment from Xbox Game Studios, namely Halo Infinite, Battletoads, Bleeding Edge, and the recently announced Grounded. Those titles are all set for release on Xbox One, with Halo Infinite being a cross-gen game available on both that console and Project Scarlett. Meanwhile, Rare also has a new game called Everwild that's coming to undetermined platforms which will eventually play into the current Xbox lineup.
All in all, it's an interesting time to be a fan of Xbox. There seems to be a lot going on with Microsoft and all of it appears to be moving in the right direction. With the recent studio acquisitions, it's clear that Xbox will have a lot more exclusives coming down the pipe. Given the company's blossoming relationship with Nintendo, resulting in Banjo and Kazooie joining Smash Bros Ultimate, it's evident that the house of Gates is at least eyeing up the industry from a progressive and innovative perspective.
