Capcom confirms that patch 1.04 for Ultra Street Fighter 4 is going to bring quite a few interesting features, such as the Edition Select Online option, not to mention bug fixes, balance tweaks, and more, including support for the upcoming Wild costumes DLC.

The Street Fighter 4 saga has seen quite a lot of different editions appear throughout the years, as Capcom came up with plenty of improvements, new features, and new characters for players to enjoy in the likes of Arcade Edition or the Super one.

The latest overhaul, Ultra Street Fighter 4, launched earlier this year and seemed to be the end of the line for the series, but Capcom is still dedicated to improving the fighting experience and has since rolled out updates to add more features.

Patch 1.04 launches soon and brings Edition Select Online

The next big patch takes the game to version 1.04 and includes quite a lot of interesting additions to the game, chief among which being the Edition Select Online option.

More specifically, players will be able to test out their favorite versions of specific fighters while fighting others online, no matter how overpowered they were when they first appeared.

"For the uninitiated, Edition Select allows players to pick any version of their favorite character from any version of SFIV that they’ve been in, balance and all. We’ve also added icons per version so that players will be able to adjust their strategies that much quicker. Which character is the strongest? Pick your best fighter and go online* to find out," Capcom explains on its Unity website.

Of course, those who don't want to encounter overpowered opponents can easily disable Edition Select in the Custom Match search settings or when they create custom lobbies for endless, team, tournament, or online training modes. The Edition Select option is only available in unranked matches.

Bug fixes, balance tweaks, and DLC support are also included

Besides the pretty interesting option, the new patch 1.04 for Ultra Street Fighter 4 also includes an updated battle balance that specifically improves certain underpowered characters.

Bug fixes related to Vega or Yun are also included, so that they can't be replicated by players inside the game's matches.

Last but not least, the patch is also adding the files required by the next premium DLC for Ultra Street Fighter 4, in the form of the Wild costumes, which give most characters all sorts of crazy outfits modeled after wild animals. You can check out some of them in the gallery below.
