Total War: Warhammer might be now delayed by a month to the end of May, but the development team at The Creative Assembly is continuing to deliver information about the core mechanics of the strategy experience and how it plans to tweak them in order to fit the new fantasy setting.

According to the studio, they want to make sieges rarer and epic, the kind of engagements that gamers will invest a lot of troops in and that can decide the fate of an entire conflict.
The core of the siege combat in Total War: Warhammer will be centered on the walls, fought along one or two sections, with the player now able to execute a wider range of tactical maneuvers because there's more space on the fortifications than before.
Ladders, towers and battering rams can be created by an army that wants to take over an enemy fortress and certain varieties of troops can also take out city gates and inflict heavy casualties on defenders.
The Creative Assembly adds, "To reflect the epic cities of the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world, we've also been working on much tighter, more readable map designs, involving broader streets and town squares to plan and execute your maneuvers in. This clearer readability works in the AI’s favor too, and you’ll find it putting heavy pressure on your city’s victory point."
Total War: Warhammer will also feature better siege Artificial Intelligence The developers claim that the computer knows how to mount coherent multi-pronged assaults when it is aiming to take a city and will use all the siege hardware that it can create, especially when it has a solid advantage in terms of numbers.
The AI of Total War: Warhammer is better able to use reserves effectively to strike a weak area and try to bring a battle to the end fast, both when fighting with and against the player.
When defensive operations are conducted, the computer will seek to secure its towers in order to damage attackers, reinforce core wall areas and then try to fall back and protect the most important victory point inside the city.
Based on previous teases, The Creative Assembly will offer a full reveal for the final faction of Total War: Warhammer, the Vampire Counts, on March 15.
The full game is now set to arrive only on the PC on May 24 of this year, with an extra Chaos warrior faction offered to all those who place a pre-order.
