Video game developer The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA have been very mysterious about the Vampire Counts faction that's part of Total War: Warhammer, but the two companies have already revealed its two Legendary Lords and are offering gamers a look at the units that they can recruit and use in battle.

The more interesting options include the Grave Guard, wights that were forced to leave their eternal resting places to guard the Vampire rulers, with decomposing bodies and old armor, held together by powerful necromancy.
Crypt Horrors are ghouls that have partaken of vampire blood, and The Creative Assembly adds, "If it were not for their incredible strength in battle, their regenerative capacity, and the rotting poison that courses through their gore encrusted fangs, their loathsome presence is one that even the Lords of Undeath would surely avoid."
The Varghulf are powerful assault units that are vampires who have abandoned all their humanity and have left themselves explore all vampiric urges while Vargheist is another powerful creature created via the taint of a warpstone.
The Terrorgheist in Total War: Warhammer is a bat the size of a dragon that is re-animated by powerful Lords that can rule the skies during battle and give the Counts a powerful weapon against all other factions.
Vampires will have a unique play style The full unit roster for the faction also includes: master necromancers, vampire lords, banshees, normal vampires, the Wight King, skeletal horses, hellsteeds, barded nightmares, skeletons, zombies, cairn wraiths, Black Knights, Hexwraiths, Black coach, dire wolves, and fell bats.
Vampire heroes and buildings can create corruption, which enhances their armies in their provinces and causes unrest in neighboring ones, allowing their armies to then take over while facing a smaller opposing force.
One of their potential weaknesses is the lack of ranged units, but their array of flying monsters and solid spellcasters give them options before their melee troops manage to get into range, and it seems that players will have to rely on their monstrous creations to carry the day.
Because the Vampire Counts are powerful necromancers, they can also choose to recruit new skeleton and undead forces during a battle or to use their powers to get extra units for their armies on the campaign map.
Total War: Warhammer will be launched on the PC on May 24, and a Chaos warriors downloadable content pack with a new faction is offered to all those who place a pre-order.
