The development team at Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts announce that the biggest update yet for Titanfall is set to be offered on both the PC and the Xbox One home console on October 23 and will include a host of major changes to the core gameplay experiences and an entirely new mode for fans to experience.

In an official blog post the developers explain that the innovative Frontier Defense is designed to allow four players to join forces in order to hold a very important objective against ever more powerful waves of enemies controlled by the game's Artificial Intelligence.

Respawn Entertainment states, "You and your team will face down familiar foes as well as the IMC's newest combat units: hordes of Grunts and Spectres, stealthy Sniper Spectres and Cloak Drones, explosive Suicide Spectres and Nuclear Titans, ranged Mortar Titans, and even melee-resistant Arc Titans!"

Turrets can be acquired in order to slow down enemy forces and a new loadout create mechanics will be used to allow players to quickly switch to new set of weapons more suited to the enemies they are facing.

In Frontier Defense pilots who get killed reappear in a dropship and can influence the battle by firing on enemies even before they are dropped on the map.

All the maps offered for the title so far, including DLC ones, can be used for the new mode.
Titanfall is also getting major mechanics tweaks

Alongside the new game mode Respawn Entertainment is also introducing a major patch that changes some of the most important features of the shooter.

The game now also has Ranked Play, at the moment offered in beta form as the studio gathers more information in order to refine the experience and a new Sudden Death concept is being added to the Capture the Flag mode.

The developers are also promising that they will add more featured game modes to Titanfall in the near future.

Respawn adds, "The floor is covered in deadly electrified fog! Play a variety of maps in Hardpoint, Capture the Flag and Marked For Death while staying off the ground. Deadly Ground is scheduled to launch as the new featured game mode on November 5th."

The official site also has a full rundown of the actual changes to mechanics and the bugs that the developers have eliminated in order to make sure that Titanfall is the best game it can be at the moment.
