Thief will run at 1080p on PlayStation 4 and 900p on Xbox One, developer Eidos Montreal has confirmed.

The studio told Eurogamer that both versions will run at 30 frames per second, and insisted that the difference between them is barely detectable.

"You really need good eyes to see the difference," said game director Nicolas Cantin, adding that the Xbox One edition is "as good as the PS4 version".

The news follows confirmation that Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes runs at 720p on Xbox One and 1080p on PlayStation 4, joining a growing list of titles with a lower resolution on the Microsoft system.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition also perform worse on Xbox One.

Thief will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on February 28.
