Video game developer Telltale Games announces that it is planning to launch the first episode of its new Game of Thrones series, called Iron from Ice, starting on December 2, when gamers will be able to get it on the PC and Mac, as well as on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, but only in North America.

On December 3, the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 will get the title all over the world, and it will also arrive on the PlayStation Network for Sony devices in Europe.

A mobile version will also be introduced on December 4 and it seems that initially it will only be offered on devices powered by iOS.

The information comes from a Twitter message from the official account of the development team at Telltale Games and does not deliver any more details about the price attached to the title or exactly when it will be offered for pre-order.

The studio has become well known among players lately for the fact that it waits until the last minute to announce official dates for its titles, probably in order to make sure that they have the required quality.

Game of Thrones will focus on the Forrester family

The new series is designed to use classic Telltale Games mechanics, with a focus on storytelling and dialogue, and screenshots revealed so far have shown that gamers will be controlling five characters that are all part of House Forrester.

The family is sword to the Glovers and the Starks, and the images have also suggested that the main plot of the game is linked to the Lannisters.

The events take place during the timeline already covered by the book series from George R.R. Martin and the HBO television series, but will have a completely new narrative which has been designed to include some familiar elements and expand the limits of the franchise.

Gamers will visit a number of locations from both Westeros and Essos and they will need to explore how the actions of each character will impact the state of the rest of the world.

The Telltale Game of Thrones experience will have six episodes and the development team says that it wants players to become connected to the characters that it will introduce.

At the moment, the studio is also working on new seasons for The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, and they are also delivering episodes for Tales from the Borderlands.
