As game publisher Take-Two Interactive releases its yearly financials, some interesting information reveals that one of the studio's major titles has been pushed back to 2020.

Known for gaming giants like the BioShock series, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, and Borderlands, Take-Two has some impressive names in its back catalog. However, while Red Dead Redemption 2 finally hits consoles and PC this year, another game is facing a big delay alongside the promise that it will be worth the wait.

The report revealed by Take-Two states that company has had a particularly strong year thanks to Grand Theft Auto Online and the ever-increasing boom in microtransactions. Although the next financial year is expected to break records with Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as new NBA and WWE games, there is bad news for a mysterious title on the horizon. As the company statement says:

"The highly-anticipated title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises, which had been planned for release during the current fiscal year, is now planned for launch during fiscal 2020 to allow for additional development time."

The release doesn't reveal what the title is, but it it is a fair assumption that the delayed title - now set for release between April 1st, 2019 and March 31st, 2020 - will be Borderlands 3. The game has been on the cards for some time now, and with the last sniff of anything Borderlands being back in 2015, fans are mashing their buttons in frustration as they wait to return to the planet of Pandora.

Admittedly, Take-Two is the parent company of both Rockstar Games and 2K Games, meaning that the missing game could be the long-awaited BioShock 4 or another Grand Theft Auto, but all bets are on Borderlands 3. While a third game may have been originally slated for this year, Take-Two could've easily pushed the title back into 2020's financials. Also, considering that Walmart Canada had already spoiled the arrival of Borderlands 3 at the same time Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford debunked the title from this year's E3, the latest news makes a lot of sense.

Either way, there is set to be a huge marketing budget behind the delayed game, and the confirmation that it is from one of the company's "biggest franchises" should be enough to get everyone talking. While the game may not be making its debut at this year's E3 Expo, there is every chance that Take-Two could have a big announcement up its sleeve and primed to get gamers saving up their cash.
