Star Wars Battlefront is one of the biggest video game projects that will be launched this year and the development team at DICE working on the experience is under a lot of pressure to make sure that the title looks as close as possible to the movies on which it is based.

A new update on the official site reveals that one of the main techniques used to ensure fidelity fort the title is called Physical Based Rendering, which allows the studio to render images while taking into account physical properties and laws.

Ken Brown, the technical director, working at DICE, states, "Say you have some Stormtrooper armor. If you take the time to set that up correctly based on the rough physical values it should have, suddenly you have a Stormtrooper that will work in any environment it’s put in. Then we don’t need to worry about tweaking every single environment and texture depending on the context."

Star Wars Battlefront will use PBR to deliver better light use and to make all surfaces seem like they have unique properties.

Gamers will get a boost to the immersion because all materials are affected by the environment, whether they are on Hoth, Sulluth or Endor.

PBR will be used in conjunction with photogrammetry, and it is only possible because the DICE is using the most recent version of the powerful Frostbite engine.
Star Wars Battlefront is arriving on November 17

The game is designed to be played on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

DICE has said that it will try to make sure that it includes all the major battles shown or mentioned in the original trilogy of Star Wars movies.

A piece of downloadable content called Battle of Jakku will be introduced on December 1 for all those who place a pre-order and one week later for the entire community, designed to deliver an experience based on the new The Force Awakens.

Star Wars Battlefront will focus on classic team-based shooter action, with players able to take each other out on foot, using vehicles or flying around in a variety of atmospheric ships.

DICE is introducing a new Hero mode that allows gamers to jump, for a limited time, into powerful characters like Darth Vader, Boba Fett and more to have a bigger impact on the course of a match
