Developers of The Sims, EA Maxis Studios, recently listed a couple of new job openings on its website that suggest work on an unannounced game. The Sims 4 was released in 2014, and players have been awaiting the news of a new game for the last six years. The Sims is a life simulation game that allows players to create characters and manage their lively hood. Players can do everything from throwing a party, to getting a job, to setting their house on fire.

The Sims has had a very repeated formula over the last two decades, but fans still obsess over it and each new addition Maxis comes out with, making it somewhat of a cult classic. Each Sims game introduces new activities, while the objective stays the same, to simulate a fake life as these characters in SimNation. Sims 4 has seen a number of DLCs since its initial release date. Its most recent expansion, Tiny Living, was just released last week on January 21st on PC.

However, after six years, hope is now on the horizon for a possible confirmation of The Sims 5. In a recent job listing on the EA Maxis Studios career site, a couple of new listing have opened up for art directors, specifically to work on new IPs. This brings the question, what exactly are those IPs going to be? According to Gaming Route, a new Sims game seems to be in development. The job listings also describe some of the things it is looking for in the applicants, such as "experience running a live service" which could imply the next game may be an MMO, something Sims fans have always wanted.

Since its release, The Sims 4 has seen eight different expansion packs. That is more than one a year, however there has been no mention from Maxis about another sequel. It also has added "Stuff Packs" which provide new items, and "Game Packs" that add new thematic experiences for the players. Maxis has also created other games, The Sims Mobile and The Sims FreePlay, to be played on mobile devices. All of these DLCs hold over fans while they eagerly anticipate word of The Sims 5.

There is still no definite confirmation the game will come to see the light of day, players will have to wait for an official announcement from developers. Yet, this new information definitely suggests that the idea and beginnings of what could be Sims 5 may be in production. A new IP suggests a new game, rather than just another expansion. Players will have to wait and see if these job listings are calling people to develop the unannounced Sims 5.

The Sims 4 is available now on Windows, Mac, PS4, and Xbox One.
