As promised, here it is: The Havoc is an energy assault rifle compatible with the Turbocharger hop-up that eliminates the autofire charge delay, and more interestingly the Selectfire Receiver, which enables shooter to switch from a standard autofire mode to a hitscan charged beam weapon, meaning that you're going to instantly hit whatever you're aiming at.

EA hasn't shared any hard numbers but said that the Havoc matches the Hemlok as one of the highest damage-per-shot weapons in the game. It's also the only hitscan weapon (in charged beam mode) in Apex Legends, and the only one so far that can be equipped with two different hop-ups. Long story short, it sounds like it's going to be a beast—with the Selectfire hop-up, good optics, and a little practice, it could provide effective sniper and spray-and-pray functionality in a single weapon. I think you're going to want to get your hands on this gun.

Original story:

Just a quick note: Respawn announced that it'll be announcing a new gun for Apex Legends tomorrow, an unnamed rifle shown in the pixelated clip on Twitter above.

My guess is that the gun will use energy ammo, given the electric blue particles shown in the tease, and the fact that only two of the 19 Apex Legends guns use this ammo type. The gun appears to fire rapidly, but I can't tell if what I'm seeing (and hearing) at the end of the clip is a charged-up shot. It really seems like the cylinder in the middle of the gun is spinning as the player slides downhill at the end of the video. Apex currently has three assault rifles, three SMGs, four shotguns, four sniper rifles, and three pistols, so my guess is this one will add to the pile of ARs.

Arriving two weeks and three days after launch, this update might be an early sign of the pace Respawn wants to set with Apex Legends. We'll see if they try to match the cadence Epic has set with Fortnite's nearly weekly changes, events, and surprise additions.
