It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is getting its own mobile video game. The wacky shenanigans of the Patty's Pub Gang will now be in the hands of their fans, and with a plethora of material to work with, the game has the potential to be one epic distraction.

For It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's 12 - soon to be 13 - seasons the erratic behavior of a group of unruly bar owners has delighted fans. Interestingly enough though, the show wasn't an immediate hit, facing cancellation after its first season. Saved at the last minute by the network, it has since turned into one of the highest rated and most popular shows in the FX cable family. When the show concludes its already ordered season 14, it will be tied with The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet for the title of longest running live-action American sitcom, at least when it comes to number of seasons produced. Needless to say, It's Always Sunny seems unstoppable, and it's not surprising to now see it branch out into the gaming realm.

As announced today by FoxNext Games and East Side Games, the hit TV series is getting its first free-to-play mobile game titled It's Always Sunny: The Gang Goes Mobile. Players will be given the chance to interact and team up with Charlie, Mac, Dennis, Dee and Frank in some of the show's most iconic gags and storylines, while exploring new money-making schemes. The premise of the game will revolve around Frank coming into quite a bit of dirty money, for which he will need to utilize the gang in order to hide it from the feds. Fans can and should expect the usual bickering, back-stabbing, and conniving behaviors of the gang to come into play along the way. Whereas fans could once only watch these adventures, they are now being given the power to take part.

While It's Always Sunny: The Gang Goes Mobile has no firm release date at present, its announcement comes right on the heels of FXX's reveal of the show's season 13 premiere date. Fans had anxiously been awaiting that announcement for some time, as well as learning the fate of Dennis (Glenn Howerton), who left at the end of season 12 to pursue fatherhood. While his involvement within the upcoming season appears to be in a limited capacity, Dennis is listed as a key player in the video game.

FoxNext Games is no stranger to the video game world, seeing success with its recent mobile release Marvel Strike Force, as well as Simpsons: Tapped Out and Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow. It's Always Sunny: The Gang Goes Mobile is planned for release before the end of 2018 on both iOS and Android.
