Fans have been asking for a new entry in the Red Dead universe for years, and it seems that video game developer Rockstar and publisher Take Two are getting ready to deliver an official announcement for it during the coming E3 2016 event.

That's according to information that a website called FragHero has received from an ex-employee of the studio, who says that the planned launch date for the sequel to Red Dead Redemption, which is apparently called Legends of the West, will be set in late 2017.
Apparently, the video game has been in development for more than four years, and Rockstar will offer a bigger open world that will use multiple main characters, as Grand Theft Auto V does, to explore the most interesting narrative moments associated with the setting.
The e-mail also says that the developers are spending resources to re-master the first Red Dead Redemption and are planning to launch it on all next-gen consoles before the end of the year.
This is why the company has pulled the backward compatible version of the game that briefly popped up on the Xbox One, which the fan community saw as an admission that a remake was planned.
This is just a rumor and should be taken as such, especially given how secretive Rockstar and Take Two are when it comes to their plans.
The two companies do not want to milk their franchises The idea is to make sure that each installment in their big series, like GTA and Red Dead, offers a solid experience to the fan base, and there are no plans to use the yearly schedule, as other popular franchises do.
That being said, E3 2016 is a great moment to announced a sequel to Redemption, especially given that the fanbase has been asking for one for so long and the first title was very successful when it launched.
Rockstar has made it pretty clear that it is offering more content for the Online side of GTA V, introducing both balancing patches and new modes and vehicles, so a sequel to that title will not be delivered anytime soon.
Red Dead Redemption: Legends of the West will probably be launched on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4, and even if the rumor is untrue, Take Two will probably announce a new major title from its leading studio before the end of the year.
