Although CD Projekt Red has already made it clear that Cyberpunk 2077 is nothing like The Witcher 3, there is one key difference between the two titles that may surprise gamers. Although The Witcher 3 handled gameplay from a third person perspective, Cyberpunk 2077 will be entirely first person.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the next ambitious project from the studio that brought The Witcher games to life. The RPG features a main character, V, which is customizable. It occurs in a setting inspired by the tabletop RPG of the same name, a world that features a lot of dirt and grime, but also a lot of technological advancements, including cybernetics, robots and artificial intelligence (think Blade Runner). Player choice will feature a lot into how events unfold in that world, meaning that each playthrough of the game could have a different outcome and ending.

Game Informer wrote about playing a demo of the game at E3 and that playthrough showed just how Cyberpunk 2077 differs from The Witcher 3. It's more than just the futuristic setting and type of characters, though. Nearly everything about Cyberpunk 2077 separates itself from CD Projekt Red's previous titles.

To start with, the main character, V, is customizable. Players can choose what gender the character is, as well as hairstyles, clothes, body modifications, body types and makeup. There is even an option to choose what backstory the character has. The choices in how the character looks also affects gameplay, since characters will judge V based on his/her looks. CD Projekt Red also said that choices and consequences will play a larger part in Cyberpunk 2077 than any of their previous games. Every single piece of dialogue and every action will affect how the story plays out later on.

Although the E3 trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 gave players an idea of what the setting looks like, gameplay itself is like a first-person shooter to "bring you closer to the action and to maximize your immersion." Game Informer wrote:

"We know CD Projekt Red has a firm handle on player choice and narrative - which are both evidenced here - but now we see this dev has first-person shooter chops as well. The combat looked dynamic, fun, and filled with RPG elements galore."

Unfortunately, one thing that CD Projekt Red did not reveal is the release date. The company's reputation, though, will have fans willing to wait, especially when remembering how polished The Witcher 3 was when it first came out. In this case, patience is certainly a virtue.
