Epic Games Vice President of Engineering Nick Penwarden has once again sung the praises of the PlayStation 5, this time deeming it to be a “masterpiece of system design." Sony's upcoming next-generation console has gained a considerable amount of buzz since its reveal stream earlier this month, especially from other major video game companies.

The most prominent voice among them is Epic Games, which has worked very closely with Sony in its development of the visually stunning “Lumen in the Land of Nanite” Unreal Engine 5 tech demo back in May. Shortly after it was first shown off, CEO Tim Sweeney declared that the PS5 was more technologically advanced than even the latest high-end gaming PCs. Epic VP of Engineering Nick Penwarden would add to this later on by describing how the PS5’s cutting-edge SSD has made it possible to render these amazing visuals using less memory than consoles of the past required.

According to GamesRadar, it turns out that Penwarden isn’t done complementing the PlayStation 5, as earlier today he called the console a “masterpiece of systems design” in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine. “Not only is it driving a huge leap in computing and graphics performance,” he stated in the interview, “but it is also revolutionary in terms of storage and data compression technology, unlocking new kinds of games and experiences for players to enjoy.” Epic CTO Kim Libreri would add to Penwarden’s comments, telling Official PlayStation Magazine that “next-gen graphics and processing power will not only make games more immersive, but will also enable entirely new gameplay concepts that can take advantage of fully dynamic environments and lighting, much improved physics, smarter AI, and richer multiplayer experiences.”

Epic isn’t the only gaming company to champion the PlayStation 5, as way back before the system itself was physically unveiled Dying Light 2 designer Tymon Smektala described the console's new DualSense controller as "one of the best controllers ever made." Bethesda's Pete Hines shared this sentiment, going as far as to say that the DualSense makes the PS4's DualShock 4 "immediately forgettable.”

Having such praise from a high number of video game developers is certainly a good sign of the PlayStation 5’s quality, and Epic’s glowing feedback seems to be even more telling due to the company’s firsthand experience with the PS5’s hardware. So far, the PlayStation 5 looks very promising indeed and if Nick Penwarden's complimentary words are any indication, players will be in for something truly remarkable when the console finally hits store shelves this holiday season.

I'd consider probably selling my Xbox One X to maybe get a PS5. But before I do that, I wanna make sure another GTA (Grand Theft Auto) game is coming soon and there's several games worth getting on PS5.

Does the statement have something to do with proprietary hardware that is somehow different than what is compatible with a PC? For the past few console generations the hardware has been very consistent with components available for PCs.

Hardware alone , does not make , PC THE MASTER RACE that is just one of its many , many ,many advantages . But if we are to look at this purely from a hardware prospective . To state that and i quote " CEO Tim Sweeney declared that the PS5 was MORE technologically advanced than even the latest high-end gaming PCs."

emphasis on "MORE " this is the epitome of hilarity , for i can name several vendors producing " high-end gaming PCs " that would out perform , in all categorize not to mention costume built rigs that would not only outperform but as well out price , and that's with new parts . Start talking second hand parts and that price drops even further .

but like i said that was just one of its many , many , many advantages . Others include but not limited to , tweaking / outright modification of graphics be it shadow , lighting , textures , rendering , you name it . Upgrade ability to further its life , and lets not forget its basic function of being a computer you can browse the web, movies ,social media etc .

keeping dead but beloved games alive that developers have abandoned .This is more often done with MMOs than console titles but there are some out there .
And last but not least GLORIOUS MODS that can do everything from simple textures swaps to out right change the game in its entirety .
