Primal Carnage: Extinction, the long-awaited multiplayer-only experience set in the Primal Carnage universe that pits humans against dinosaurs, now has a release date for the PC and PS4 platforms, not to mention a fresh gameplay video and some stellar screenshots.

Primal Carnage appeared back in 2012 as an ambitious online experience, and soon after it was revealed that a single-player prequel, not to mention an even bigger multiplayer iteration, would debut thanks to the efforts of multiple development studios.

Unfortunately, the story-based installment, dubbed Primal Carnage: Genesis, was put on indefinite hold earlier this year, but at least work on the multiplayer title is still progressing as planned.

Extinction now has a release date for both PC and PS4

Now, the two companies behind the upcoming game, Circle 5 Studios and Pub Games, confirm on the official website that Primal Carnage: Extinction is set to debut in late November for the PC and in early 2015 for the PS4 platform.

The title is set to include a lot of multiplayer action when it finally launches, as the two developers reveal that 12 sprawling maps, two game modes, and plenty of human-vs-dinosaur conflicts will be offered by Extinction.

"On a mysterious island overrun with prehistoric monsters, you can choose to fight as a variety of legendary dinosaurs or to join the human mercenary team armed with a unique, distinctive, and destructive arsenal aimed at making these bloodthirsty beasts extinct once and for all," the studios say.

Nine unique dinosaur classes feature all sorts of core gameplay mechanics, from sneaking to charging, flying, blinding, and more. Humans are split into five classes, but there are plenty of diverse weapons that can be used against the prehistoric beasts.

The game supports, on the PC, the Steam Marketplace, where players can trade or sell cosmetic items that they get for free in the actual game.
Plenty of DLC is set to appear after launch

Besides the content included in the standard game, the two studios are also planning six months' worth of downloadable add-ons, in the form of new weapons, skins, cosmetic options, environments, and game modes.

While no exact dates have been given for the launch of Primal Carnage: Extinction, a beta stage will go live on November 10 on the PC platform for all those who pre-order the game until then. Expect to hear more details as we get closer to that date.
