PlayStation 5 Will Release By 2020 Holiday Season

Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 will be released during the upcoming 2020 holiday season and that the controllers will include both haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. There have been rumors circulating about the upcoming PlayStation 5 for months now, yet Sony has kept quiet regarding the system, even while Microsoft has been revealing details about the Xbox Scarlett.

The information regarding the PlayStation 5 has been scant, though there have been some minor announcements and leaks regarding the system. The fact that the PlayStation 5 will rely on a solid-state drive for faster loading has been known for a while now, as well as graphics hardware being able to handle ray-tracing in modern games. There have been leaks regarding an extensive set of backward compatibility options for the PlayStation 5, but these have yet to be confirmed.

Sony has finally made an announcement regarding its next system, which can now officially be called the PlayStation 5. President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan has discussed the PlayStation 5 on the PlayStation.Blog and he has revealed that the system will be released in time for the 2020 season, which is also when the Xbox Scarlett is due to be released.

Ryan also described the unique features of the PlayStation 5 controller, which will include haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Haptic feedback can allow players to feel a broader range of textures, while the force feedback effects feel different depending on the severity of what is happening on the screen. The adaptive triggers will allow the developers to determine how much pressure a player needs to exert in order to pull the trigger buttons. The example given by Ryan is that pulling an arrow with a bowstring will feel different than accelerating a vehicle. The exact appearance of the system has yet to be revealed, but a recent leak of the PlayStation 5 model suggests a more futuristic design than the basic block shapes that have been used for previous PlayStation consoles.

Sony also revealed new information about the PlayStation 5 in a recent Wired article. The PlayStation 5 will have a solid-state drive, the CPU is coming from the AMD Ryzen line and it will have a GPU from the Navi line. The PlayStation 5 will use 100GB optical disks and its drive will double as a 4k Blu-ray player. It will be possible for players to install portions of the game (such as just the single-player or multi-player) and they can remove one while keeping the other. The UI will be integrated with games in new ways and will provide options regarding upcoming events and joinable matches on the fly.

It appears that the next great console war is coming at the end of next year, as the PlayStation 5 is facing the Xbox Scarlett during the 202o holiday season. Sony and Microsoft now have little over a year to try and woo the audience into purchasing their next system, in the face of increasing competition within the industry..

Figures I bought an Xbox One X just over a year ago and used it for only a month...

Although idk if I'd play this if I bought it, either.
