Job listings from PopCap Games' HD studio confirm that the Plants vs. Zombies game that's scheduled to arrive in early 2016 is a sequel to Garden Warfare, its popular third-person shooter experience. Few details are available, unfortunately.

PopCap Games has delivered a wide variety of casual titles throughout the years, delighting millions of people with the likes of Bejeweled or Plants vs. Zombies. However, since its acquisition by Electronic Arts, the studio has branched out to new genres and set up other teams besides its main Seattle one.

One prime example of this branching out is Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, a multiplayer-only third-person shooter that included intense competitive and cooperative modes, which is quite popular across PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
Garden Warfare sequel is coming in early 2016

After we saw publisher Electronic Arts announce that a new Plants vs. Zombies game would appear in early 2016, a confirmation that the title is a Garden Warfare sequel has just appeared, through job listings spotted by Videogamer.

The two openings are from the PopCap HD team in Burnaby, Canada, and are looking for an Interface Designer and a Designer/Scripter.

The Interface specialist must be ready to "help bring the UI of a new Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare game to life," which outright confirms that a sequel is going to arrive in the first few months of 2016. Meanwhile, the Designer must help the rest of the team create engaging mission experiences for the shooter, so it's quite possible that a single-player component or more multiplayer challenges will be included in it.

EA has only mentioned that the next Plants vs. Zombies title is going to launch in early 2016, so it's quite likely that a confirmation and some actual details will be shared by the large publisher at its E3 2015 press conference, which is scheduled to take place on June 15 in Los Angeles.
