Indie developer Black Delta has confirmed that its upcoming kart racing title, KartSim, will be compatible with the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset on launch. The developer confirmed as much on the page for its ongoing Steam Greenlight campaign, stating that support for the Oculus Rift would be added during the title’s Early Access phase on Steam. A launch date for the early version is yet to be confirmed.

KartSim is a multiplayer experience in which players can tackle either races or sandbox stunt driving. The title will come with 5 different tracks, each of which has been laser scanned for accuracy, as well as 5 different customisable types of kart. It will also come with single player options featuring AI racers. Players can even step out of their karts in between matches and walk up and down tracks by foot, meeting other player’s avatars as they go.

Black Delta is hoping to launch KartSim in mid 2014, though it’s not clear if this refers to the Early Access version of the title or the full release. Expect support for the Oculus Rift to follow after the early version releases. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s development and report back on all the latest.
