Everyone hopes to make the most of the Pokemon Go craze, and Nintendo obviously wants to take the lion’s share here, but for some reason, it might fail to do that.
Nintendo has recently announced the so-called Pokemon Go Plus clip-on accessory that allows players to catch Pokemon and collect items without even pulling out the phone, as it connects to the handset through Bluetooth. Originally supposed to launch in July, the device has been delayed until September, according to a tweet from Nintendo, with no other information provided.

Shipped by September 30
Nintendo has started emailing customers who pre-ordered the accessory to inform them about the change, explaining that the device will be delivered by September 30, but once again, without providing any details regarding the reason for the delay.

“We regret to announce that the Pokémon GO Plus accessory launch has been delayed. This item will now be released in September, not July as previous communicated. We'd like to apologise for this delay, and we understand that this change could affect whether you'd like to complete your order. If you would still like to receive the accessory you do not need to take any action. Your order will then be delivered to you by 30th September,” the email reads, according to NintendoLife.
On the other hand, customers who pre-ordered the accessory are also getting a £5 discount on their next order if it is over £30 (the amount of discount for other markets is not yet known).
Nintendo is clearly missing one very important target, and it’s very likely to see sales of the accessory impacted by this decision to release it two months later than originally planned.
Pokemon Go is now at the peak of its popularity, and it’s hard to believe that the same level will be maintained in the coming months, despite the involved companies’ efforts to keep the game relevant. But without a doubt, many things can change in two months, so it remains to be seen if the Pokemon Go Plus can still be a successful device despite Nintendo’s failure to deliver it at the right time.
