New “Walking Dead” Game Announced!
Do you have it in you for another zombie game? How about another one featuring “The Walking Dead” license? I’m intrigued by the developer involved with this new project, but I think I’m starting to feel a little oversaturated by the undead. Read the news and tell us how you feel about it.
Overkill, the developers behind “Payday”, are teaming up with Robert Kirkman and Skybound Entertainment to create a new game in the “Walking Dead” series. According to their Q&A, this new game will be “a co-op first person shooter with elements of action, role-playing, survival horror and stealth, that invites players to explore the hugely popular The Walking Dead universe, where they will play the role of survivors fending for themselves in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating walkers.”
Judging by the constant use of the phrase “in 2016 Washington will fall”, I think its safe to assume that the game will probably be available in 2016. And it might take place in some fictional far off land called “Washington.” Fans of “Payday” might also be interested in knowing that Dallas will make an appearance in the upcoming game. Here’s how Overkill alluded to the potential crossover:
It’s not clear if he’ll be a playable character in “The Walking Dead” or if “Payday 2″ will get a “Walking Dead” inspired map, but it sounds like they have something planned for the two properties. They’ve already kicked off the partnership by providing “Payday 2″ players with a “Walking Dead” themed in-game bat. So if you’re into that sort of thing, go out and claim it.The Walking Dead are two separate games – but, in true OVERKILL spirit, we’ll make some unprecedented crossovers. When Washington falls, what will Dallas do? If you own PAYDAY 2, you can answer this question in OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead.
