Pokemon Go's Adventure Week event may be over, but a new in-game event is now underway for a limited time. From now until June 21, players will be able to take part in the returning Water Festival, which offers a variety of bonuses, along with another chance to catch a powerful Legendary Pokemon.

Among other things, Water Pokemon such as Magikarp and Wailmer will spawn more frequently for the duration of the event. On top of that, 2km Eggs will hatch into Totodile, Mudkip, Corphish, and other Water-types, and every Egg that's hatched will reward players with double the usual amount of Candy and Stardust.

Niantic also teases that players will be able to encounter Shiny Shellder during the event, making this the first time its Shiny variant will be available in the game. In keeping with the theme, Raid Battles will feature "powerful" Water-type Pokemon, including Kyogre, which is returning to Gyms for the duration of the event. Even if you've previously captured the Legendary, Niantic teases that it too may appear in its Shiny form this time around.

Along with the aforementioned bonuses, players have a new set of Field Research quests to complete. These likewise revolve around Water Pokemon, and achieving a Research Breakthrough will reward players with another encounter with the Legendary Articuno. You can read more details about the Water Festival event on the official Pokemon Go website.

In addition to the Water Festival, the next Pokemon Go Community Day is right around the corner. The event takes place on Saturday, June 16, and offers players a chance to earn triple the normal amount of XP for capturing Pokemon. The Rock-type Larvitar will also appear much more frequently during the event, although Niantic has yet to reveal what exclusive move it will be able to learn.
