Doom Eternal was one of the featured titles during Bethesda's E3 2019 event and it proved to be one of the highlights of the conference, as the game is promising to ramp up the action from the previous Doom and will even allow players to take on the role of demons in the multiplayer mode.

The developers of Doom Eternal described the game as the "ultimate power fantasy" and that the player will need to combine their gaming skills with the weapons available to the Doom Slayer in order to take on the forces of Hell. There is a greater emphasis on movement in Doom Eternal, with the Doom Slayer being able to dash forward and stick to certain surfaces, which means that the player has a lot more vertical freedom than in previous entries in the series and can take on the enemies from different angles. The first trailer showed how much faster the game had become, which means that the player will need to keep their skills as sharp as possible when outnumbered by hordes of demons.

Doom Eternal will also have a new multiplayer mode, called Battlemode, where one player takes on the role of a fully-armored and armed Doom Slayer, while the other players take on the role of demons and use their unique powers to try and defeat their more powerful opponent. The playable demons shown in the trailer (courtesy of Gamespot) include the Mancubus and the Revenant, both of which possess unique weapons. Bethesda had previously revealed that demons would be playable in Invasion events, where players could invade other games and try to hunt down other players.

One of the most interesting moments in the Doom Eternal trailer is a brief shot of a massive angelic being. Doom Eternal will allow players to journey to Heaven, as well as Hell, so it's possible that the Doom Slayer will be battling angels for the first time in the series history. The fact that the series will be leaving the boundaries of Hell (or a colony on Mars) means that the potential for new foes has never been bigger, as the Doom Slayer will be traveling to different dimensions throughout the game, as well as visiting Earth.

The previous Doom game proved that there was still life in the franchise and that massacring hordes of demons is as fun now as it was in the '90s. Doom Eternal is promising to take everything that made Doom great and dialing it up to eleven. There are still more details to be announced about Doom Eternal and they will be revealed at QuakeCon 2019.

Doom Eternal will be one of the launch titles for Google Stadia in November. Doom Eternal is coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 22, 2019.
