2K Games has just announced a pretty sweet deal, enabling everyone to try out the latest installment in its basketball video game series, NBA 2K15, for free over the course of this weekend on Steam.

This means that if the game piqued your interest, but you weren't ready to commit to a purchase yet, this would be your lucky chance to take it for a spin and see if all the things 2K bragged about are indeed as ground-breaking as they said.

The title is free to play on Steam right now and will be so through the weekend, to celebrate the commencement of the real-life NBA season. The offer is set to expire on Monday, November 3.

What the game is about

2K Sports is touting NBA 2K15 as the most faithful simulation of the actual sport you can get your hands on, and the PC edition is bringing the full features of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version, for the first time in the series.

In case you want to get a glimpse of the game in action, you can watch the trailer below, highlighting some of action going on on the court and showcasing the impressive visuals, player likenesses and dribbling animations.

The title's MyCareer Mode benefited from a lot of attention, being updated with a host of new elements, and delivering a much more engaging experience, complete with talks with the team leader, endorsement deals, challenges and performance badges.

In addition to this, the new coach satisfaction system provides real-time feedback based on your performance, delivering helpful advice and praise or critique based on how well you play the game.

NBA 2K15 also comes with a sweet soundtrack, featuring a ton of great licensed tracks, from artists such as Lorde, Depeche Mode, Busta Rhymes, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others, curated by songwriter and performer Pharrell Williams.

Another enticing Halloween offer

Not stopping here in its ongoing efforts to please its audience, 2K Games also wanted its fans to have an easier time setting up their Halloween get-up, providing some neat masks, courtesy of the game's face scanning system, which proved to backfire for a lot of users and create veritable grotesque works of art.

"Celebrating Halloween and need a costume? We have you covered. Enjoy these horrific NBA 2K15 face-scan-gone-scary masks to compliment the perfect scary outfit," the Facebook post reads.

The publisher offers some neat print-outs, complete with instructions on how to make the masks, based on various images that NBA 2K15 players posted on various social media outlets.
