With its release date quickly approaching in April, fans of Mortal Kombat X have been eagerly waiting to see which characters have made the final roster. Gamers received a nice tease last week when NetherRealm Studios released the game’s story mode trailer showing off additional characters that had yet to be seen. With a few more spots open on the roster, fans continue to want to know who’s next?

Leaks are a common thing these days, but considering how hard NetherRealm has worked to keep each character a secret, it appears that not even they are immune. A few of these characters have been teased recently but so far this is the first time images have surfaced of their in game models.

In a NeoGAF thread, longtime series veterans Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs, and Johnny Cage are shown in a screenshot, along with additional images and a character model of Jax. The end of the forum post also shows off a screenshot of Frost, a female Sub-Zero type character that joined the series in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. No context was given in regards to the images that were posted and there are no images of them actually fighting, however.

Additionally, IGN posted an article earlier today showing off a screenshot of the blind swordsman, Kenshi, fighting Kotal Kahn in the recently revealed mobile version of Mortal Kombat X. In the screenshot, the word ‘possessed’ can be seen under Kenshi’s life bar, suggesting that this would be one of the three playstyle variations for this character.

With the announcement of Cassie Cage being the daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage, fans have been hoping to see both characters added to the roster. If these leaks are to believed, it appears gamers will be getting their wish. Still, it’s entirely possible that these characters are only featured in the game’s expansive story mode and are not in fact playable. NetherRealm hasn’t officially confirmed anything, so for now take these posts with a grain of salt. With the April release date quickly approaching, official word should be coming sooner than later.

There’s still a number of roster spots left before the game launches and the story mode didn’t help end the debate of who’s in and who’s not making the cut. So far, only Jade has been ‘deconfirmed’ for the title as her move set was given to Kitana’s Mournful variation playstyle. It’s entirely possible that some of these character moves are incorporated into existing characters variations such as Jax’s daughter Jacqui Briggs or Kenshi’s son Takahashi Takeda.

How do you feel about these characters returning to the roster in Mortal Kombat X? Who else are you hoping to see added to the roster?

Mortal Kombat X launches on April 14 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
