Mortal Kombat 11 has been announced for a release in 2019, and we're all excited for seeing a return of the most brutal fighting game series around. Of course the first question we have is, what's the roster going to be? What Mortal Kombat 11 fighters will be in the game?

We don't have the full list yet, but we do have a list of all Mortal Kombat 11 Kombatants revealed so far, from the obvious ones in the trailer, to slightly more surprising ones. Take some salt with you over the next article...

Scorpion

One of the classic mainstays of the Mortal Kombat games, along with his iconic "get over here!" taunt, the fiery ninja known as Scorpion is guaranteed a spot in the Kombat - and expect his fellow ninja warrior Sub-Zero to appear after very long, perhaps in the January gameplay debut.

Dark Raiden

Raiden is another one of the longest-serving Mortal Kombat characters, except this one has a twist. Due to the red lightning, rather than Raiden's usual blue, the character in the trailer is actually Dark Raiden - his evil alternate version that first appeared in Mortal Kombat Deception in 2004, and who reappeared at the end of Mortal Kombat X. We assume normal Raiden will make an appearance too.

Shao Kahn

The embodiment of all evil and the lord of the Kombat, Shao Kahn is the most powerful character in the series, usually appearing as a final boss, and he'll be back in Mortal Kombat 11. However, like Darkseid in Injustice 2 or Goro in Mortal Kombat X, he'll only be available to pre-order customers as DLC - so probably won't play a role in the story.

Oracle

Pinch of salt time, but a supposed leak named a new character as "Oracle". Now, we're not one for unsubstantiated rumours, but it's as good a name as any for the lady at the end of the trailer, stroking a massive hourglass. She certainly seems to be a new character. We'll update this with her real name when we learn it...

Spawn

Ahem. Well, at least this one has a source. Todd McFarlane's '90s superhero Spawn has been rumoured as a character for the last two Netherrealm games, but now in a Reddit AMA McFarlane was asked about Spawn coming to Mortal Kombat 11 and he replied "I believe he's on his way..." which is as good a confirmation as any. If so, he'll almost certainly be a DLC fighter.

More as we get it!
