Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition and Minecraft: Playstation Vita Edition could be getting physical releases. Amazon is taking preorders for both games, providing placeholder package artworks. The shopping site posted placeholder release dates of December 31 too, indicating that the physical releases could take place by the end of the year. The preorders can be found on this page.

Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition and Minecraft: Vita Edition were confirmed to come out in August on the Sony Entertainment Network Store. For reference, Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition launched on December 17, 2013, in the same digital distribution store. A physical release for the PS3 game would not come out until May 15, 2014.

Mojang and Sony could rush the physical releases of Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition and Minecraft: Vita Edition with the holiday season coming up. The popular game has sold exceedingly well regardless of which formats it came out on. It should be making a big splash again around Black Friday and the rest of the holidays.

Interestingly enough, Amazon is not taking preorders for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. The Xbox One game is arriving on the Xbox Live store on the same month as the PS4 and Vita games on the Sony Entertainment Network Store. Microsoft may be saving a physical release of Minecraft for another time down the road.
