If you want to create a second character for Metal Gear Survive, it will cost you.

Metal Gear Survive released earlier this week in the US, and players who wish to create a new character for a second playthrough of the game, or just to have another on hand, will need to fork over some Survival Coins.

This also applies to shared accounts through Steam, PSN and Xbox One if an additional user wants to create their own character.

According to US Gamer, Metal Gear Survive players who wish to play a character other than the original created for the single-player campaign and the online portion will need to pay $9.99 or £7.99.

This is how much it will cost in order to acquire the 1,000 Survival Coins, the microtransaction currency of Metal Gear Survive, in order to create a second character.

The $9.99 or £7.99 spent through Steam, PSN, or the Xbox Store is equal to 1,150 Survive Coins.

So in other words, if you don’t want to spend the extra cash, the only way to go about it is changing your character. This means you will have to start over if you wish to play a different gender like in Metal Gear 4 Online, for instance. You can still change the look of your player for free at Base Camp, but that’s the extent of it.

Obviously, many players are upset over the issue, as you will see over on the ResetEra forums.

Metal gear Survive was released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on February 20 in the US and today in Europe.
