The new Mass Effect title is still a long way from launch and little official info about it has been delivered so far, but BioWare is now ready to say that it plans to create an experience that will offer a larger than ever world to explore and will appeal to fans of the franchise and to newcomers at the same time.

In order to celebrate N7 Day, the company has brought together members of the development teams in both Montreal and the United States to talk on Twitch about the philosophy behind the title they are creating.

A number of new races, all of them unnamed, will be introduced to gamers, who will have an opportunity to explore their origins and their particular characteristics by visiting homeworlds that can be both peaceful and extremely dangerous.

The new Mass Effect will almost certainly not use the number 4 as part of its name, and BioWare says that it is creating a spiritual successor rather than a direct sequel.

Exploration is set to be one of the main elements of the new experience and the studio claims that the game will use improved PC hardware and the power of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in interesting new ways.

A reveal for Mass Effect might come at E3 2015

At the moment, Electronic Arts has not said when they aim to offer a first look at the story or the gameplay included in the new Mass Effect, but it’s a good bet that a lot of details will be introduced during the E3 2015 trade show.

The title might be launched in 2016, as next year is already set to feature launches for both Battlefield Hardline and Star Wars Battlefront.

BioWare has said that the Commander Shepard saga is finished and that only small elements of it will be used in the new Mass Effect experience.

The company has expressed a desire to create more meaningful relationships between the various included characters, and it seems that there are plans to once again introduce more ways for gamers to affect the state of the world with their choices.

Until the new Mass Effect is out, fans of the BioWare role-playing game style will be able to pick up Dragon Age: Inquisition, which will be offered on November 18 in the United States and three days later in Europe, on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and last-gen consoles.
