Video game developer Hangar 13 and publisher 2K Games are delivering a new video for the upcoming Mafia 3, which deals with the various connotations that Lincoln Clay, the protagonist, attributes to the word Family.

Developers who work on the title are offering more details about the narrative that gamers will be able to explore and the way the story is being set up.

Hanger 13 states, "As you saw in the debut trailer, Lincoln has returned from Vietnam to find his surrogate family wiped out by the Italian mob. This sets him on a path of revenge, using tactics such as feeding men to alligators."

The video game will take place in 1968 in and around New Orleans and will see the protagonist go on a quest for revenge after the Black Mob, to which Clay belongs, is taken out by the Italians.

The development team says that it will use the classic third-person mechanics of the series and that it aims to deliver an engaging experience with some cool story moments and plenty of action.

An open world structure will be used for Mafia 3 and gamers will be able to actually interrogate defeated enemies to gain more information.

Stealth is also included, as is a full cover system for the combat sequences.

Mafia 3 is coming to the PC, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One at some point during 2016.
