It was announced yesterday that former professional basketball player Rick Fox is the new owner of North American League of Legends team Gravity Gaming.

ESPN reporter Darren Rovell revealed on Twitter that the team will be rebranded as Echo Fox. Earlier this month, The Daily Dot reported that the team sold for $1 million, though the buyer was unknown at that time.

Gravity Gaming did not qualify for the 2015 League of Legends World Championship, and since then, much of the team has moved on, leaving Fox to rebuild the team. Though Fox has had no professional involvement in eSports in the past, SB Nation noted that the basketball player and actor has shown an interest in the community, calling pro-gamers athletes while on The View, and chatting about League of Legends with Utah Jazz player Gordon Haywood, who is active in the League of Legends scene.

Like Fox, who has won three NBA titles with the LA Lakers, Gravity Gaming has had some success in the past. Though the team did not qualify for the championships, it did make the top six in League of Legends's 2015 spring and summer terms.
