The video game publisher THQ Nordic recently streamed its summer gaming showcase event called the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2022. It revealed all kinds of new video games that gamers could expect to see, including anticipated releases such as Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed.

One of the new games revealed at the THQ Nordic showcase included Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign. The RTS game was announced back in 2019 as a sequel to the first Knights of Honor developed by Black Sea Studios, now Creative Assembly Sofia, and is being developed by Black Sea Games with developers who worked on the first title. However, the THQ Nordic showcase revealed more than just a brief teaser trailer and showed some gameplay too.

The gameplay for Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign gives players get a good look at what the game will be like. The trailer is narrated by an advisor to the player's character. It starts by showing the player planning an invasion of a neighboring kingdom, establishing trade routes, and causing an uprising in another kingdom. Of course, the trailer shows combat as players can recruit and lead their army to battle. Players will be able to take direct control of their forces and lead them in action-packed RTS combat. They can employ familiar RTS tactics against their opponents, such as flanking the enemy with calvary units, or sending soldiers to scale castle walls.

The THQ Nordic Digital Showcase hosts also shared some details about the game. Notably, Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign is set in Medieval Europe, where players can choose their kingdom from among Europe, North Africa, and some parts of Asia. Players will be the head of their royal family and will be able to appoint their own marshals, merchants, clerics, diplomats, and spies to join their royal court. Players can choose how they wish to rule, whether through cunning diplomacy or ruthless conquest, and play with their friends online in multiple game modes that will keep the gameplay experience "fresh" in Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign.

Despite showing new gameplay footage, the release date for Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign was not revealed in the trailer, so players will need to keep an eye out for more updates on that. However, the THQ Nordic showcase also revealed plenty of footage for other upcoming video games that players can look forward to. Several of the games include Alone in the Dark, the spaceman realtor game Space For Sale, the Gothic 1 remake, Jagged Alliance 3, and several others.

Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign is in development for PC.
