Ubisoft shared a stunning new cinematic trailer for Beyond Good and Evil 2 during its E3 2018 press conference. The video didn't provide much in the way of new details about the game's storyline or gameplay, but it did feature a couple of familiar faces from the first Beyond Good and Evil, suggesting the game will have a much stronger connection to its predecessor than previously believed.

The trailer, which you can watch above, begins aboard a ship navigating the icy ring of a Saturn-like planet. We get a glimpse at the ship's sick bay, which is filled with crew members who've fallen sick and drunk from the cook's "miraculous space chili." The trailer then shifts its focus to the cook in question, who turns out to be Pey'j, the boar companion from the original Beyond Good and Evil.

Partway through the trailer, the ship is hit by a sudden wave of ice, which was caused by an even larger vessel approaching it. The video ends with the crew looking on as the ship is boarded by two armored soldiers and their leader: Jade, the protagonist from the first game.

At this point, it's unclear just how Pey'j and Jade tie into Beyond Good and Evil 2's storyline. Ubisoft still hasn't revealed many details about the game's narrative, although the publisher did previously confirm that the title is a prequel that takes place shortly after Jade was born.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 still doesn't have a release date, but Ubisoft is holding a "Space Monkey Program" for the game, which provides regular updates about its progress and gives fans a chance to help shape the title. You can sign up to participate in the Space Monkey Program at the official Beyond Good and Evil 2 website.
