Sony's E3 2018 press conference was home to a trailer for the Resident Evil 2 remake, primarily showcasing cinematics and teasing its existence. But right on its heels, we've now gotten a second trailer that shows some brief glimpses of gameplay.

The trailer doesn't stick with any single moment for particularly long, but we do see protagonist Leon Kennedy approach the Raccoon City Police Department. From there, we receive a look at the interior lobby, which is as creepy and ominous-looking as ever. Other shots showcase the apocalyptic streets of the city, as well as Leon making his way through various areas and firing at enemies.

Overall, it doesn't reveal a ton about any changes being made, although it does seem as if the game might be played from a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective, rather than the classic, fixed camera view--something the company has confirmed. Beyond that, you can get a sense for how dramatically the graphics have improved over the original. For more, check out the other Resident Evil 2 trailer.

In a press release, Capcom said the "game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-poundingly immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game."

capcom further boasts about the "new photorealistic style" made by possible by this engine. "[T]he characters themselves appear sharper than ever and the grotesque hordes of zombies are brought to life with a horrifyingly realistic wet gore effect," it said. "Zombies now react in real time as they take instant visible damage, making every bullet from the player count. Stunning lighting brings the familiar rooms and corridors of Raccoon City Police Department to new life. Players will feel they're in the shoes of heroes Leon and Claire, terrified to step out of the light for fear of what flesh-eating nightmares might await them in the darkness."

We don't know when we'll learn more about the game, but Resident Evil 2, as it's simply called, has a release date of January 25, 2019. It's now available for pre-order. Although it appeared during the PS4 press conference, it's also set for release on PC and Xbox One.
