Rockstar Games has outdone themselves with their 2018 Red Dead Redemption follow-up game, but exactly how many chapters are there in Red Dead Redemption 2? This year's installment is one of the most anticipated games of the console generation so far, coming eight years after Red Dead Redemption released worldwide, which itself was a spiritual successor to Rockstar's 2004 Western game, Red Dead Revolver.

Leading up to Red Dead Redemption 2's release, it became clear just how massive the sequel/prequel would be in terms of size and scope, a notion that doesn't only apply to Rockstar's open world but the game's story as well. Because there is so much to do in the world and the story itself, it's been confirmed by Rockstar Games themselves that Red Dead Redemption 2 takes 60 hours to beat (at least), but the question here is, how many chapters are actually in Red Dead Redemption 2's main story?

Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 has six chapters in its main story, of which each chapter contains multiple missions. The Van der Linde gang typically moves at the end of each chapter, so players will have the opportunity to completely see Red Dead Redemption 2's open world. Furthermore, there are also two epilogue/end-game chapters that continue the story behind the golden path. Considering that there's so much in the game, it may take players longer than 60 hours to complete.

It's been previously reported that Rockstar Games had cut down Red Dead Redemption 2's, which makes sense as consumers play through the game, but some players believe that there is still room for unnecessary parts of the story to be trimmed down - but those are obviously personal opinions. People who've waited close to a decade for Red Dead Redemption 2 to release will gladly welcome as much content as possible, but regardless of how long the story is or how many chapters there are in the game, there is plenty to do in the game's open world, which aren't limited to just hunting, robbing, and collecting bounties.

Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 may contain only six story chapters (with an additional two epilogues/end-game chapters), but how long it takes players to complete each chapter is up to them. By the time they complete the game, it will be time to gear up to start playing Red Dead Online, which enters the beta stage sometime in November. It will be available to everyone who purchased Red Dead Redemption 2.
