The biggest surprise of the entire Microsoft briefing that took place during Gamescom 2015 was the fact that the company was currently working with The Creative Assembly to create a new Halo Wars title, which is designed to push the real-time strategy side of the franchise forward.

The video game received a teaser trailer, but no information about the core mechanics or the kinds of stories it will deliver have been offered until now.

A new Halo Waypoint update explains that 343 Industries and The Creative Assembly have worked in secret for months on Halo Wars 2.

The two companies are already taking into account the feedback that the fans have been offering on forums, and it seems it might be already implemented in the development process.

343 Industries adds, "We know many of you are excited for the game to come to Xbox One and Windows 10, but to set expectations appropriately, we won’t be talking much about the title until next year. That time will come, though, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with you when it does."

The fact that information will arrive in 2016 might be a sign that the real-time strategy title will not be offered before the holiday season of next year.

Halo Wars 2 could be a great way to expand the limits of the franchise

343 Industries and The Creative Assembly have made it clear that they are not only planning to deliver a version of Total War, which uses some elements of the Master Chief-powered title.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait quite a bit before they get a full look at what Halo Wars 2 will actually offer.

Until then, 343 Industries and Microsoft are planning to launch Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One on October 27.

The new shooter will deliver a classic single-player campaign, which for the first time also includes full cooperative capabilities.

The game also aims to rework the classic multiplayer mechanics of the series, with a new Warzone mode that blends several types of gameplay and with the Arena multiplayer mode dedicated to those who want more competitive moments.
