It goes without saying that Halo: The Master Chief Collection has had a rocky few months after launching last November for the Xbox One. After a number of patches, the game is still not working right, specifically with its matchmaking system.

The situation got so bad for players that 343 Industries announced a beta program for this upcoming patch so as to test its effectiveness. Ultimately, however, the beta did not happen, but the patch it was going to test appears to have been completed. With the developers continuing to work around the clock in resolving the various issues that continue to plague the title, the title’s next major patch is looking to finally shore up the numerous problems players continue to experience while playing.

In a post on Halo Waypoint, 343 detailed the full patch notes on what players should be seeing upon booting up The Master Chief Collection today. The update tackles a number of different areas in the game, including Halo 2 and Halo: Combat Evolved, which received a number of stability and bug fixes. The matchmaking system also received a number of requested improvements, and players should notice improved performance, stability, and matchmaking success rates after the patch has been applied to the game.

A few of the major fixes to the game are as follows:

Made a variety of updates to improve matchmaking performance and success rates

Improved matchmaking search times/time to match

Improved stability throughout the matchmaking process across all titles

Improved party stability

Pegged as a major triple-A title for the Xbox One system, it’s a bit surprising to see The Master Chief Collection in the state that it’s currently in, especially considering these games are not particularly new. The fact that 343 has yet to get the title up and running to the level that players expected at launch is also a bit worrisome and could also be brand damaging for Microsoft. Hopefully this massive patch is the cure that the game is desperately seeking and manages to please fans which up to this point have been left unsatisfied.

The trend of games launching with major issues seemed to have increased last year with titles like Assassin’s Creed Unity, Driveclub, and LittleBigPlanet 3 all shipping with notable problems. While day one patches aren’t necessarily a bad thing, these games had major issues and required a number of patches to get them working properly. Hopefully this is a trend that doesn’t continue going forward as it did last year.

Even with all of its problems since launch, are you still playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection? Has the recent update improved the experience for you or are you still running into issues? Let us now below in the comments.
