Halo: The Master Chief Collection might be launched now on the Xbox One, but the arrival of the new bundle of remakes is overshadowed by the fact that developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft have given fans of the series a first look at the multiplayer side of the coming Halo 5: Guardians.

The almost ten minutes of footage offered by the official channel blend a look at the actual gameplay of the coming title with statements from the developers and a look at the excitement generated by getting hands-on with the new modes for the first time.

The two companies are also offering a few screenshots taken from the experience, and together with the video, they can give fans a look at the type of experience that they will be able to enjoy on the Xbox One in the fall of next year.

Halo 5: Guardians is designed to take the entire series forward, aiming to keep some of the ideas that have made the first four core titles successful, while also introducing a range of innovative elements.

Fans have been less than satisfied to find out that characters will be able to sprint for the first time and that it is easier to target and to eliminate enemies using scopes.

The beta period for Halo 5 might change things

Those who are getting Halo: The Master Chief Collection will get access to a unique code that they can then use to become part of the beta for Halo 5: Guardians, which will run for three weeks starting on December 29 and will include only multiplayer modes and maps.

The development team at 343 Industries says that it will carefully consider all feedback coming from the players and that it might make significant changes based on their opinions.

Long-time players may organize themselves in order to ask developers to eliminate some of the new gameplay features that they do not appreciate.

The beta part of the game will run at 720p and 60 frames per second, but the values might change before the full version is out.

Halo 5: Guardians will not be an entirely multiplayer affair and the single player will deal with a new threat to life in the galaxy and the fate of Master Chief.

Agent Locke, a new character introduced in Halo: Nightfall, will play an important role and the actor behind him has suggested that he might be the only one playable for large sections of the title.
