Halo 5: Guardians Day 1 Patch Is Now Live, Brings Total Game Size To 55 GB; Here’s How To Install It

Halo 5: Guardians Day 1 patch has gone live a few hours ago. As reported earlier, this patch will take a huge chunk of hard disk space, weighing in at 9 GB, and this brings the combined file size for Halo 5: Guardians to a total of 55 GB.

If you still haven’t managed to download this new update, you can try to hard reset your Xbox One in order to trigger this new update. If you have instant on mode enabled and the game installed on hard disk through digital pre-load or disc install, you should be able to download the update automatically.

There is an important thing to keep in mind here regarding the update size. The update won’t be showed in the file size of Halo 5: Guardians, which is ~46 GB. Even if you download and install the update, the file size will remain the same but instead the HDD will show 9 GB less space. This is a glitch as explained by reddit user blackfire561.

The Update does not increase the size of the game. It only takes away from your storage capacity. Here is how to see if you have the update.

  • Your Console’s Power Setting Needs To Be (Instant On)
  • Go to My Games And Apps
  • Sort By Recently Updated: And if Halo 5 is first on that list then it got the update.
  • Or you could just check if your memory space went down if you remember.
