Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) may stop being a console-exclusive game after rumours emerge of an Amazon “leak” suggesting that the hugely popular game will be released on PC during the first quarter of 2014.

The open-action worldwide adventure game was previously rumoured to be released on Christmas eve, but now a new alleged release date has been suggested for mid-February. An anonymous Amazon employee apparently informed someone in Germany of this who then posted a screenshot of their conversation on Facebook (according to The South Axis). Although the Amazon employee reportedly told the user that they were “expecting it next year by February”, they also stated that a clear release date for the PC version of the game was yet to be guaranteed.

Earlier in August, Chris Evenden, the senior director of investor relations in Nvidia, stated that a PC version of GTA V may be officially announced during a financial call. No announcements have been made since then by either Rockstar or Amazon though, so unfortunately fans will have to keep on waiting for more official information regarding this matter.

As no GTA V PC versions have been leaked on the internet, several sources have stated that the February release date may also prove to be untrue. The game was found leaked on many Torrent sites before it was finally released on game consoles, but as of yet there have been no torrents available of the PC version indicating that it’s probably still in development at this stage. So currently GTA V remains playable only on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.

While the February release date hangs in the balance for GTA V, other sources on the internet have recently come out claiming that the release date may be further postponed to sometime in mid-March. A Norwegian retailer’s page states that pre-orders for the PC version of this highly anticipated game will be released on March 18, according to the International Business Time.

To date, almost 600,000 people have signed an online petition asking Rockstar Games for the PC release of GTA V. Despite Rockstar remaining silent about the PC release date, the company is very likely to have spotted the petition by now.

The release plan at this stage seems it could also mirror the same one used for GTA 4, which was first released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 before it was launched on PC the following December. Rockstar has simply advised fans to “keep an eye out for info on that on our newswire page: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire.”.

The PC version of GTA V will be released for sure! About 6-9 months after the console release! Why struggle with this if no one can't know the right date! THESE are just rumors!
