Gears of War 4 moves the action 25 years after the end of the previously numbered installment in the series, and the developers at The Coalition plan to introduce a new trio of main characters that gamers can control during the single-player campaign.

But these are not the only innovations that the new developers intend to implement, and when it comes to gameplay, according to Game Informer, the plan is to add new elements to each combat encounter that can spice up the action and give gamers interesting choices.
The weather will play a major role as Sera is now affected by powerful windflares, which start off as breezes that create tension and can evolve into powerful storms that actually affect the way projectiles behave, forcing the player to make sure that he positions himself to take advantage of their force.
Players can also affect the battlefield by creating cover when they lack options, but enemies also have the ability to move quickly and pull characters from their protective stance and perform takedowns.
Gamers will be able to move in and out of cover faster in Gears of War 4 and a new shoulder charge can be used to knock down opponents and leave them confused for short periods of time.
Gears of War 4 will introduce the Swarm as the main enemy With the Locust apparently eliminated, the story, which centers around Marcus Fenix's son JD, introduces a new enemy that kidnaps citizens to turn them into a new species that is barely recognizable as human.
The Coalition says that it wants to evoke the horror moments of the first video game in the series at first but that gamers will quickly find more powerful enemies, and they will be able to use new tactics and adapt their moves to how the player approaches the shooter.
Cooperative action will be at the core of Gears of War 4, with two players able to engage in split-screen locally and more probably able to work together via Xbox Live.
The Coalition has said that it wants to run a beta test for the cover shooter at some point during the spring, but it's unclear what kind of content those who can access it because they have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be provided with.
Gears of War 4 will be launched on the Xbox One before the end of the year, and Microsoft will probably announce special editions and bundles featuring the new title.
