In addition to racing, collecting, and exploring Adventure Worlds in LEGO Dimensions, players will soon be able to spend some time busting ghosts.

The open-world LEGO game coming to consoles will offer a Level Pack featuring a minifigure of Peter Venkman and Fun Packs including a LEGO Slimer and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Level Packs, Team Packs, and Fun Packs are used to import new characters and features into the world, as well as open up the newly-announced Adventure Worlds for players to explore and interact with. These Adventure Worlds are open areas that can be unlocked separately from Dimensions' main story.

Once opened, these Adventure Worlds can be explored using any of the characters a player owns. This means Gandalf can finally step into the world of Gotham City, Wyldstyle from The LEGO Movie can explore the mountains of Middle-Earth, or whatever else players may want to force to interact. The first three adventure worlds will be The Lord of the Rings, unlocked by Gandalf; The LEGO Movie, unlocked by Wyldstyle; and DC Comics, unlocked by Batman. There are fourteen planned Adventure Worlds for LEGO Dimensions.

A number of licensed characters have been announced for LEGO Dimensions, including Doctor Who, The Simpsons, DC Comics, and The Wizard of Oz.

Not unlike Disney Infinity or Activision's Skylanders, LEGO Dimensions is Warner Bros.' foray into the toys-to-life genre in which tangible toys are used to access in-game content such as characters, levels, and challenges. It will release on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Wii U on September 27.
