Valve, together with its hardware and retail partners, confirms that the first Steam-branded hardware, in the form of Steam Machines and Controllers, are now available for pre-order through a variety of stores, both online and physical ones.

The Steam Machines initiative was revealed to the world quite some time ago, with Valve presenting its own strategy of taking the PC and thrusting it into the living room gaming space. After quite a lengthy development period, the company presented the first Steam hardware earlier this year, alongside the final iteration of the dedicated controller.

Now, after another period of radio silence and just a loose fall of 2015 release estimate, Valve confirms that the first hardware offers are now available for pre-order.

More specifically, customers in the U.S. can pre-order the Alienware Steam Machine, the Steam Link, as well as the Steam Controller from GameStop. Those who do such a thing will get their hands on the hardware a month sooner, on October 16, instead on their actual release date of November 10.

Those in Europe or Canada can go to retail outlets like GameStop, EB Games, Micromania, or Game UK to get the Steam Link and Controller early.

CyberPower is alsos offering its own Steam Machine for pre-order from its website, so you can also take advantage of that offer.

The Steam Machines begin at a price of 449 USD / 398 EUR, while the Steam Link and Controller are priced at 49 USD / 54 EUR each.

You can expect to see other hardware vendors soon present their own Steam Machines offers in the near future, as Valve has been quite open with its initiative, allowing plenty of companies to develop their own mini PCs and market them using the Steam brand.

While Valve recommends that these computers come equipped with its free SteamOS Linux-based operating system, some might pack in a Windows OS for easier gaming.
