Progression won't carry over from alpha to full game

Developer Turtle Rock Studios and publisher 2K Games have shared some brand new details about the character and player progression systems in their upcoming Evolve cooperative shooter, ahead of the game's Big Alpha test phase this weekend, and also the minimum and recommended PC hardware requirements.

Evolve is one of the most anticipated all-new intellectual properties set to appear in early 2015, as the shooter, which tasks four players with trying to take down a human-controlled monster across a wide array of maps, has captured the hearts and minds of many people.

After some great appearances at large trade shows like E3 2014 or Gamescom 2014, where many fans were able to experience playable builds, even more people are going to be allowed to try out the game, as a special Big Alpha test phase is set to go live this weekend.
More details about progression are available

Ahead of the launch of the test build, a special post on the official website has just gone live, sharing plenty of actual info about how players will see their characters and their overall profiles progress while playing the game.

First up, each match will see players progress with their characters through three ranks in different categories, such as weapons or abilities. Earning top ranks on all of them unlocks the next character in the class, whether they're hunter types like assault, trapper, medic, or support, or the actual monsters.

Secondly, players will have a general profile that can be ranked up to level 40 and offers perks that can be selected before going into a match. These perks range from bonuses to climbing speed or jumping to the jetpack recharge rate, health or armor regeneration, and much more.

No progression carries over, but unlocks are present in the Alpha

Unfortunately, while the character progression system is in the Evolve Big Alpha, it's not going to carry over to the final game.

However, there still are reasons to try out all the classes, as each has a second unlockable character. As standard there's one available in each category, such as the Goliath in the monster one, and one that can be unlocked once a player reaches mastery of the standard category – the Kraken monster, for example.

The Evolve Big Alpha includes eight hunters and two monsters, as well as three maps and the basic Hunt mode.
PC hardware requirements are also available

Last but not least, a list of minimum and recommended PC hardware requirements is available, and most of them are relatively decent, although beefy CPUs and GPUs are necessary to run the game as intended. Check them out below by clicking the "Show Requirements" button.

Evolve's Big Alpha kicks off on Xbox One on October 30 and on PS4 and PC on October 31.
