Any details on Bethesda's highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be coming for years. It has been almost a decade since the first release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and over the years Bethesda has consistently ported the game to newer consoles like PS4, Xbox One, and even the Nintendo Switch. Fans were hopeful when Bethesda revealed at E3 2018 that The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently in development. The ambiguous trailer showed no more than a mountain that even the greatest Elder Scrolls lore fanatics could not identify.

During E3 2018, Bethesda also revealed another short and unrevealing trailer for the upcoming title Starfield. This original space RPG will be Bethesda's first meaningful steps away from Fallout and The Elder Scrolls in years. With next-gen consoles just over the horizon, fans know that both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released on these future systems. However, Bethesda has given no indication as to when these releases will occur, and how far into the next-gen console's lifespan they will arrive.

Yesterday on Twitter, Bethesda's senior vice president Pete Hines replied to a tweet asking when fans can expect any details regarding The Elder Scrolls 6. Hines's response proved that Starfield would be released before The Elder Scrolls 6, and noted that Bethesda has not revealed anything about the space RPG either. Most disheartening was Hines stating that fans should not be asking for details until years from now. It seems Bethesda's strategy of announcing The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018 was simply reassurance for fans that the title is in development. The complete lack of information on both The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield 2 years after their announcement is surprising to many, and fans have been analyzing interviews with Todd Howard for any bits of information he could possibly share.

Bethesda's latest release was Fallout 76 in late 2018. Now that Bethesda has slightly revealed its upcoming release radar, perhaps Fallout fans will have to be even more patient than those eagerly awaiting The Elder Scrolls 6. With Starfield being released before Elder Scrolls 6, a new Fallout game may be even further into the future. Fans also speculate whether or not more Skyrim ports will come to next-gen consoles, with some hoping Bethesda decides to port their classic Elder Scrolls titles such as Morrowind or Oblivion.

Hopefully in the coming years Bethesda will release a more substantial trailer, and at least reveal the game's subtitle. Until then, it seems fans will have to be patient and accept that The Elder Scrolls 6 is not arriving in the foreseeable future.
