Video game developer Valve is announcing that it is introducing a new Custom Game Pass system for DOTA 2 to make sure that it offers a new way for gamers to support those fans who are putting together their own custom game experiences based around the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena and create communities around them.

According to the official announcement, "Custom Games Passes will be limited to a small number of high-quality games that have established themselves in the community. Purchasing a pass directly supports the creators of the custom game as well as granting you extra features for that game. All custom games will remain free to download and play."
The first of the bunch will be offered for Roshpit Champions for the price of one dollar or Euro for a 30-day period, introducing more stash and characters slots alongside other slots when compared to those who choose to play the same mode for free.
According to Valve, the Custom Game Pass concept for DOTA 2 is limited to 30-day periods to make it easier for players to show their appreciation for a particular creator or concept and react when they introduce changes or they are no longer interested in that particular experience.
DOTA 2 aims to expand by offering more value to players As per the developers, the plan is to allow each custom game creator to use the new pass to develop a better community around their own take on the MOBA experience, creating new ecosystems that will benefit the Valve title in the long run.
The company says that it will monitor creators to make sure that none of those who launch a Custom Game Pass will offer rewards that affect the balance of the game and might even suspend one if it fails to meet the original goals.
Gamers can get a refund within 48 hours if they are not satisfied with the new DOTA 2 experience that they buy access to.
It will be interesting to see whether Valve will be able to convince the big community it has created around the MOBA to pay for custom games or if users will rebel as they did when a similar concept was announced in relation to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
DOTA 2 has been widely used by the company to test new ideas, and the passes and compendiums associated with major real-world tournaments have been a success with fans.
