Disney is ready to reveal that it does not plan to deliver a full new version of Disney Infinity during 2016 and that it will focus on creating more Play Sets, based on a wide variety of new properties, which will give fans even more characters and levels to play around with.

According to the company, 2015 was one of the most successful in the history of the franchise, and the fact that it now features Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars as well as classic cartoon characters means that there's a solid foundation from which to progress during the coming year.
Four new Play Sets are coming, presumably one for each of the core brands, with the first of them featuring Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia, and the package also includes four Power Discs.
In order to celebrate the arrival of the new live-action remake of The Jungle Book, Disney Infinity will introduce Baloo to the action.
The company states, "We’ve heard fans have been asking for more classic Disney animated characters, and it’s always on our minds as we move forward with Disney Infinity. The upcoming film was the perfect occasion to follow through on those requests and bring a beloved Disney character in Disney Infinity 3.0."
Marvel Battlegrounds adds a new play set focused on action Disney worked with the comic book creatures to put together an official and original new story that will deliver a new set of events for fans of the superhero universe to experience. Thus, the developers at United Front Games are introducing four-player local cooperative mechanics to Infinity for the first time.
Black Panther, Ant-Man and Vision are coming to the title, and they will also feature costumes based on the next Civil War movie, with the Black Suit version of Spider-Man also being featured in the game after being confined to the Vita for a while.
Presumably, content associated with the coming Rogue One movie that's based in the Star Wars universe will also be introduced to Disney Infinity before the end of the year.
It's unclear whether the developers are also planning to offer updates separated from the new content to improve the 3.0 experience for those who will not get the new Play Sets.
Disney Infinity is currently the leader of the toys to life video game genre, competing with Skylanders from Activision and LEGO Dimensions, and Nintendo is also present in the field with its own Amiibo figurines.
