Bungie confirms a few more details about the next Iron Banner event in its Destiny shooter, including new features, like the ability to reforge weapons, as well as buffs to XP gain for those who don't have enough time to spend with the game.

Destiny launched at the beginning of September, and in order to keep fans interested in the shooter experience, developer Bungie organized quite a few various in-game events across its different modes.

Among them was the Iron Banner, a special playlist for the competitive Crucible experience, which was pitched as a tough challenge for veterans who had the toughest armor and deadliest weapons. However, even if the level advantage setting was turned on, experienced players still complained about the lack of a challenge.
New features are coming to the next Iron Banner

Bungie confirms now on its website that it's listened to all the feedback and that it has plenty of fresh ideas for the next edition of the Iron Banner.

Among them is the ability to reforge any Iron Banner weapons that drop from the upcoming event, but also those that were given during the first edition of the event. Bear in mind, however, that the process isn't cheap, as motes of light will have to be given in exchange for each reforging.

"In the next Iron Banner, Lord Saladin will offer players the option of reforging any Iron Banner weapon (including those from the last event.) This will re-roll all of the upgrades, but will also reset any progression. The cost for each reforge will be a small number of Motes of Light, so set some aside next time Xur arrives in the Tower," Bungie explains.

Reputation gain bonuses are also coming

Besides allowing fans to re-roll the stats of their weapons, the next Iron Banner will also accommodate players who don't have that much time to spend with the actual game during the week-long event. This is achieved via a 12-hour buff to reputation gain called Tempered. The first iteration appears with the next event, but Bungie expects to tweak it for following ones.

"With Iron Banner lasting one week, some players with working schedules found themselves unable to even consider reaching a higher rank. In the next Iron Banner, Lord Saladin will offer a 12-hour buff called Tempered, which will boost Iron Banner reputation gains. As the week goes forward, this boost will be increasingly potent, to help players starting later in the week to catch up," the studio explains.

For those who worry about their existing reputation, Bungie confirms that the next event won't reset it, as due to issues with the first edition, many players were unable to reach higher ranks. With the following Iron Banners, however, the reputation system will be replaced with a temporary "Event Standing" one that resets at the end.

No word yet, however, on when the next Iron Banner debuts in Destiny.
